Apple Leak Reveals Mystery Camera Wearable

A previously unknown hardware identifier discovered in Apple’s iOS 27 source code suggests the possible development of a new wearable equipped with a camera. The internal model, identified as B790, appears to support Apple’s Visual Intelligence feature, although the company has released no official information about the product itself.

The discovery was made by X user @samhenrigold, who found the B790 model number in iOS 27 software. The code entry provides little information about the hardware, aside from confirming compatibility with Visual Intelligence, leaving the product’s purpose and form undisclosed.

Visual Intelligence is one of Apple’s latest artificial intelligence capabilities and allows users to use a camera to identify objects, landmarks, text and logos before requesting more information from Siri. The feature is currently available on the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models running iOS 27.

The reported compatibility with Visual Intelligence is significant because the feature relies on image recognition. As a result, the software listing strongly indicates that the unidentified hardware is expected to incorporate an integrated camera. Beyond that connection, the source code offers no details regarding specifications or functionality.

Apple hasn’t revealed any information regarding the B790 model, and the software entry contains no indication of its appearance, display technology, or release timetable. The available information is limited to the identifier’s presence in iOS 27 and its support for Visual Intelligence.

The lack of official details has led to discussion about the product’s identity. One possibility is that the hardware represents an early version of Apple’s long-rumoured smart glasses, which have frequently been linked with augmented reality capabilities alongside artificial intelligence-powered visual recognition. Another suggestion is that it belongs to a different wearable category. However, recent reports indicate that Apple has paused development of camera-equipped AirPods, making that possibility less likely.

The inclusion of the B790 identifier in iOS 27 also suggests that Apple is continuing to prepare software to support wearable hardware built around advanced visual artificial intelligence features. The company has gradually expanded its AI capabilities across the iPhone, iPad and Mac, with Visual Intelligence becoming one of the principal additions to its software platform.

Despite the discovery, the existence of the software identifier does not confirm that the product will become commercially available. Apple regularly develops and tests hardware and software internally, and features or devices identified during that process do not necessarily reach the market.

For now, the confirmed information remains limited. The B790 model has appeared in iOS 27; it is listed as supporting Visual Intelligence, and that support suggests the presence of a camera. Beyond those details, Apple has provided no further information, leaving the hardware’s identity and eventual role within the company’s wearable portfolio undisclosed.
